Task
A Task (or SignTask) is the fundamental unit of an electronic signature document in DottedSign. It is created by an owner, who then sends it to other signers for signing.
Status
In the process of signing a task, there are several key status transitions, including:
Status | Description | Archivable | Discardable |
---|---|---|---|
draft | The task is in a draft status after creation, where all signers and signing fields can still be modified. | X | O |
waiting | The task has been successfully sent to the signers and is waiting their signatures. At this status, all signing fields cannot be modified, but changes to the signers or their permissions are still possible. | X | X |
completed | All signers have completed signing. At this status, the task is complete, and a Completed File is generated, containing all filled-in content, along with an Audit Trail File that audits the signers' actions during the task. Both documents are protected by DottedSign's digital signature and are available for download by authorized users. | O | O |
declined | The task is terminated if any signer refuses to sign the document. | O | O |
voided | The task is voluntarily terminated by the task owner. | O | O |
expired | The task is automatically terminated after surpassing its predefined expiration date. | O | O |
Below is a diagram illustrating the relationships between these task statuses.
