Only the task owner can discard a task (with draft, completed, declined, voided, or expired status).
Once discarded, the task and any associated files will be permanently deleted after 14 days and cannot be restored.

If the member belongs to a group, he can discard group's tasks if the group admin has granted him the permission.
To confirm whether a member has permission to discard a specific task, please refer to the access_info.discard parameter in the response from the Get a task API.
